about

About:
This track can be interpreted as dealing with both interpersonal and internal struggles.
Interpersonally, it is about losing sight of one's identity in the course of a relationship, the unwitting characters we play, and the changes we're willing to go through in the name of love.
The internal struggle is one of pure love versus the guilt of original sin, and how physical intimacy is obfuscated by the church's oppressive stance on sexual liberty. In this interpretation, the "city" acts both as a physical barrier and a moral one.

lyrics

consumed by bouts of delusion and fright,
perpetually devoured by somnolence and spite.
the fractal visions of despair slowly become clear to me.
subtle changes in me accrete,
and I’ve lost the man I used to be.
I’ve crossed the seas, I’ve left cities behind me.
I’m trapped in a room filled with smoke and unrest.
the thought of the time I’ve lost is nebulous at best.

but if we get up now, we can catch the last train,
out of this city that entwines us,
like we’re immured in recursive perpetuity.
and suddenly we are unconfined.

and in vain, you will fight nervousness,
and instincts with choked words in labyrinths.
and in time, you’ll concede your defeat,
with decadence and a bottle of red wine.

relinquish your thoughts and desires.
inconsolable, manic.
rendered complacent and coherent.
our incipient scion.

two lost bodies,
bathed in moonlight,
crash and collide;
concatenate.
life is fleeting:
“hallelujah.”
